Today, Oliver attended Harts Farm on Little Bushey Lane where Redrow Homes have proposed to build 310 homes.

Oliver visited the site and met with members of the Little Bushey Community group, including its Chairman, Daren Nathan as well as the Bushey Park Ward Conservative councillors.

Oliver said: ‘A number of Bushey residents have been in touch to express their concerns about Redrows’ proposals to build up to 310 homes.

It was great to join members of the Little Bushey Community group and local councillors today following the council’s decision last night to recommend refusal on Redrow Homes’ planning application.’

Hertsmere's Planning Committee agreed with the council's officers to recommend refusal on the proposal and the matter is now in the hands of the Planning Inspectorate.

Oliver added: ‘I will continue to support the Bushey residents and the Bushey Park councillors in their fight.

At the same time, they rightly rejected proposals for development on the land south of Shenley Hill in Radlett, which I also spoke out against.

Standing up for our green spaces locally and enhancing protections at a national level remains a top priority. The latest government reforms, which I repeatedly argued for, include scrapping mandatory housing targets. These will help reduce pressure on our precious open spaces so they can be enjoyed for generations to come.’

Defending our Countryside

One of the great pleasures of living in our part of Hertfordshire is the countryside we have right on our doorstep. I grew up enjoying the green fields around Radlett and love the space and freedom it provides. It makes our towns and villages distinct and special places to live.

Oliver's Statement on Woodcock Hill Village Green

Wednesday, 29 March, 2023

I am incredibly disappointed to hear that a Judge has upheld the Planning Inspectorate’s decision to approve the Deregistration and Exchange of village green land at Woodcock Hill in Borehamwood.
