Oliver recently visited The Ronson Jewish Community Secondary School (JCoSS), where many students from Hertsmere are enrolled.
During his visit, Sir Oliver met with Acting Headteacher Mrs Follett to hear about the school’s current priorities. Their discussion highlighted the school’s role in supporting young people from across the local area and fostering a culture of aspiration and inclusion.
A particular highlight of the visit was taking questions from Year 12 Politics students on topics including parliamentary procedure, antisemitism, his role as Deputy Prime Minister, and the current situation in Iran.
Sir Oliver Dowden MP said: “It was a pleasure to visit JCoSS and meet with Mrs Follett and the dedicated staff who are supporting students at the school. I particularly enjoyed speaking with the Year 12 politics class.”
He added: “Their questions were topical, insightful and genuinely challenging, exactly what you hope for from the next generation of voters and leaders!”
Sir Oliver expressed his thanks to the school for its warm welcome and commended students for their curiosity, engagement, and interest in public life.
