As we emerge from the winter months and the first signs of Spring begin to brighten our beautiful corner of Hertfordshire, I am reminded of why I feel so privileged to represent Hertsmere.
Our attractive urban village has held on to its character and charm, with a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants clustered along the High Street, enjoying all the benefits of easy access to London for work and leisure but also large amounts of green space.
However, as the frost thaws, it often reveals a familiar and frustrating sight: the ‘pothole season’ has returned. Residents are increasingly frustrated and writing to me about the deteriorating state of our road surfaces, especially on the High Street. For many, this isn't just an inconvenience; it is a safety risk and a financial burden.
I have always worked to ensure that our transport network is safe, reliable and fit for purpose. I continue to advocate on your behalf to Hertfordshire County Council, as the responsible authority for highways, and hold them to account to ensure that your council tax is allocated to fixing the rightful concerns you have. Our roads are the vital arteries of our community, and they must be maintained to an appropriate standard.
I will continue to fight for the road safety measures Bushey deserves. Please report potholes via Hertfordshire County Council’s website, which can be accessed via this link: https://tinyurl.com/HCC-Potholes and email me at [email protected], and my team will make representations on your behalf to the highways team.
