As you will have seen in the last edition of Bushey News, I have been working with local residents living in the Meadowcroft retirement community in Bushey following issues they have experienced at the property.
Recently, I was pleased to convene a meeting with the residents along with Bushey Park councillor, Marc Amron, and listen to their concerns, which they said included not having an on-site Housing Manager, poor communication from housing provider Anchor, faulty fire doors and key boxes and parking issues.
Similar issues were raised with me a number of years ago so I was disappointed that they had not been fully resolved.
I raised the matter in Parliament at Business Questions and I was grateful to the Leader of the House for her sympathetic response.
Following this, I was glad to organise a meeting with residents, Cllr Amron, Bushey Heath councillor Paul Morris OBE and Anchor.
The residents were very grateful to speak directly to Anchor and discuss their experiences.
I was glad to learn that in response to this, Anchor has now hired an on-site housing manager and monthly meetings are being set up with the housing manager to hear residents’ concerns. Anchor also explained that fire doors, key boxes and parking issues are being investigated.
As a Member of Parliament, there is a limit as to what I can do in some circumstances, as I do not have authority over the decisions taken by a great number of authorities. However, I am always dedicated to ensuring that my constituents’ voices are heard and I believe that situations like this are where MPs can make progress to resolve a problem. Going forward, I will continue to keep updated on Meadowcroft.
