Oliver recently had the pleasure of visiting BBC Elstree Centre again. During the visit, Oliver discussed redevelopment proposals with the site’s new operators, Oxygen Studios, who are working in partnership with AXA following their acquisition of the centre earlier this year. 

Oliver also received a tour of the centre’s studios, including Eastenders’ Albert Square and the set for Pointless, and was shown specific locations which will benefit from proposed investment and redevelopment. 

Oliver said: “It was great to visit BBC Elstree Centre for the first time under its new ownership.  

I have always been clear that the centre forms a vital part of the UK Film and TV Industry and can have an exciting future if invested in properly. I am delighted that AXA and Oxygen Studios share this vision.  

Their plans to develop state-of-the-art studios will secure the long-term success of the centre and ensure that it becomes an improved asset for both the UK’s creative economy and our local community in the years to come. I will be following the centre’s redevelopment closely to make sure that it delivers on these goals. 

I am also very pleased that the BBC will be continuing its production work at the centre for at least the next twenty-five years, guaranteeing that Elstree will remain the home of Albert Square.”
