Oliver recently visited Borehamwood Foodbank on Shenley Road.
Last year, the Foodbank provided 7,276 food parcels to people facing hardship, including 2,619 for children. Supported by the Trussell Trust, they are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks that are working tirelessly to combat poverty and hunger across the borough. Across the UK, Trussell food banks are still providing 45% more parcels than in 2019.
Sir Oliver and the team spoke about the Trussell Trust’s National ‘Guarantee our Essentials’ campaign and presented him with several cards that support this initiative, lobbying the UK Government to provide further financial support to those living in crisis. They also spoke about the specific challenges that the Foodbank faces in the Borough.
Sir Oliver said: “It was a pleasure to visit Borehamwood Foodbank today.
They have a tireless enthusiasm for supporting the most vulnerable people in Hertsmere, providing over 7,000 food parcels to those in need last year.
I want to thank the team of volunteers and staff for all their hard work.”
