Sir Oliver Dowden MP has welcomed progress for residents of Horizon Place, after visiting recently.
Residents had concerns about a communal door not being fixed in almost a year, which led to mailboxes being damaged and mail being stolen.
Following the meeting, Sir Oliver contacted the property manager, FirstPort, who acknowledged the serious nature of the matter and were able to re-engage with contractors to ensure that works on the doors and mailboxes were completed.
Sir Oliver also spoke to residents about the cladding remediation. Having first met with residents in 2024 regarding the cladding work, Sir Oliver has held involved parties to account to ensure progress was made on the works and has further pushed them on the speed of the work.
Sir Oliver said, “Residents of Horizon Place in Borehamwood have felt unsafe for too long. Grenfell-like cladding remains on their building and I have been pushing all parties involved to ensure that remediation takes place at pace.
I was also concerned to hear about the delays in fixing their front door, which led to damage to their mail and mailboxes. I am glad that my intervention has finally seen these repairs completed.”
