Marking a week since the horrific attack in Manchester, and two years since the tragic events of October 7th, the Member of Parliament for Hertsmere, The Rt Hon Sir Oliver Dowden,KCB CBE MP has reaffirmed his steadfast support for the Jewish community in Hertsmere and across the United Kingdom.
Over recent days, Oliver has spent time with residents across the constituency, attending the community vigil in Borehamwood and visiting both Radlett United Synagogue, where he met Rabbi Nick Kett, and Bushey United Synagogue, where he met Rabbi Elchonon Feldman. These visits offered a valuable opportunity for the community to come together in a spirit of solidarity, unity, and resilience in the face of hate.
Oliver has also been in close contact with Hertfordshire Constabulary, the Police and Crime Commissioner, and the Community Security Trust (CST) to ensure that local Jewish communities feel safe, supported, and reassured during this difficult time.
Oliver said: “It’s been a week since the horrific attack in Manchester, and as we mark two years since October 7th, my thoughts are with our Jewish community here in Hertsmere and across the UK.
Over the past few days, I’ve spent time with residents across the constituency, joining the vigil in Borehamwood and visiting Radlett and Bushey Synagogues, standing together in solidarity and unity against hate.
I’ve also been in close contact with Hertfordshire Constabulary, the Police and Crime Commissioner and the CST to make sure our community feels safe and supported.”
Oliver added: These are deeply difficult times, but please know that I’ll always stand with our Jewish community and continue to be a strong voice for you both locally, and in Parliament.”
I remain committed to ensuring Hertsmere continues to be a place where every community feels valued, protected, and supported.
