Sir Oliver Dowden MP has questioned the government on Drax power station.
This follows reports that the power station is receiving government subsidies despite burning old-growth wood in the name of sustainability.
At Department for Energy Security and Net Zero Questions, Sir Oliver asked: 'Does the Secretary of State share my concerns about reports of persistent misconduct from Drax regarding cutting down old-growth forests and burning it at that power station?
To be clear this is a company that chops down pristine forests, ships it halfway across the world to burn in the United Kingdom and claims it is sustainable.
Will the Minister look again at the large amounts of subsidies that have been approved by this current government to that company?'
