Sir Oliver Dowden MP has marked National Carers Week with the Carers in Hertfordshire Group.

He spoke to unpaid carers from within the constituency about their experiences. These unpaid carers look after family members or friends and are not employed by care agencies, care homes, or local authorities.

He also spoke to the Group about their work within the county and pledged to advocate on their behalf.

The group engage with carers across Hertfordshire, ensuring they can access the support they need and are entitled to.

Sir Oliver said, “Ahead of National Carers Week, I was pleased to meet the Carers in Hertfordshire Group and hear the experiences of some carers.

Unpaid carers are the backbone of our community. I’m committed to ensuring these local heroes get the support, respite, and recognition they deserve.”
