Holocaust Memorial Parade

Last night, Oliver joined with hundreds of people to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust at the annual memorial parade through Bushey.

The event saw dignitaries, including Oliver, the Mayor of Hertsmere and local councillors, walk through the centre of Bushey in an evening parade, finishing in the hall of Bushey Academy where a candle lighting ceremony has held.

Speaking after the event, Oliver said: ‘It was a moving ceremony last night in Bushey. As the generation who survived the horrors of the Holocaust passes, it is so important we come together to remember the terrible lessons history has taught us.

‘I was also proud to be able to sign the Book of Commitment in Parliament, which was an opportunity for all MPs from across the House of Commons to pledge to ensure this dark time in human history is never forgotten.’

The Book of Commitment for Holocaust Memorial is organised by the Holocaust Educational Trust and open to all Members of Parliament to sign and located in a public space in the House of Commons. It is intended as way to commit to remembering the Holocaust – one of the darkest and most defining moments of human history.
