What does his Parliamentary Office do?

Oliver’s Parliamentary Office discharges the duties and functions of an elected Member of Parliament.  As part of this work, the office conducts constituency casework and responds to policy queries.  In order to accomplish this, the personal data of Oliver’s constituents is processed.  The office also manages a small, non-political mailing list for the purpose of sending Oliver’s End of Term Reports.

 

How does the office process data?

The office processes constituents’ data under the lawful basis of public task.  In instances where this lawful basis is not sufficient and explicit consent is required a member of the office will contact you to establish your consent.

Please note that the office uses data from the open electoral register for referencing and filing purposes.

The contact form on this website only submits data to the Parliamentary Office of Oliver Dowden CBE, Member of Parliament for Hertsmere.

Oliver is committed to ensuring that the information collected and used is appropriate for this purpose, and does not constitute an invasion of your privacy.

 

Will your data be shared with anyone else?

If you have contacted Oliver about a personal or policy issue, we may pass your personal data on to a third-party in the course of dealing with you, such as local authorities, government agencies, public bodies, health trusts, regulators, and so on.  Any third parties that we may share your data with are obliged to keep your details securely and to use them only for the basis upon which they were originally intended.  When third parties no longer need your data to fulfil this service, they are required to dispose of the details in line with our procedures.

The office will not share the personal data of members of Oliver’s End of Term Report Mailing List.  This data is stored by MailChimp, which is based in the USA and has certified to the Privacy Shield regime for transfers of data between the EU and United States.

In any case, the office will not use your personal data in a way that goes beyond your reasonable expectations in contacting Oliver.

 

For how long will my personal data be kept?

Casework and policy queries are often revisited to provide the best service and representation for constituents, from whom Oliver may continue to receive correspondence.

Unless specifically requested by you, Oliver will hold your personal data for the duration of his service as the Member of Parliament for Hertsmere.

 

What rights do I have to my personal data?

As a data subject, you have the right to request access to all personal data that Oliver Dowden CBE, Member of Parliament for Hertsmere, holds on you by making a subject access request to his office by email.  If the data the office holds on you is no longer necessary for the casework and related processes for which it was collected, you have the right to erasure of that data.  You also have the right of rectification if the data that the office holds on you is no longer correct.  The office will not use your personal data in a way that goes beyond your reasonable expectations in contacting it.
